Communication
Mayfield's faculty goal is to maintain positive collaboration with their students' families. Parents may Access Mayfield's school website for announcements, calendars, cafeteria and schoolwide events. Parents wishing to communicate with their child's teacher should call the Mayfield School office or email their child's teacher directly. Your child's weekly folder is the best way to transmit written notes. The school and district will contact parents by phone, email, and announcements through the STPPS District App. Download the district app and enter your current phone number. In the event school is closed or moved to a distance learning day, you will be notified through this service.
Your teacher will send instructions for accessing your class Moodle. Check your child's class Moodle for newsletters, homework, and classwork. Distance Learners will access their Google Classroom accounts for assignments and virtual meetings.
Math
The Eureka Math program aligns with Common Core Standards and Grade Level Expectations. Eureka's math videos, additional practice, and resources are found at https://embarc.online.

Reading
The IRLA Independent Reading Level Assessment Framework is a developmental categorization of reading, and a series of checkpoints and learning supports for mastery of the Common Core Standards.

In 2G, readers continue sight word bank expansion and use initial consonant blends and digraphs to solve/cross-check unknown words
In 2B, readers decode 2-syllable and compound words by covering up beginnings and endings, looking for familiar chunks, vowel patterns, inflectional endings, and other known words and parts.

Technology
"The St. Tammany Parish School board 1:1 Chromebooks for Learning is to promote high levels of student engagement for all students. Increasing access to technology is essential to build upon college and career readiness skills.STPSB wants all students to be responsible digital citizens, thrive intellectually, personally, physically, and creatively. "(Mayfield, 2020). The computer devices, software, and activities are designed to improve your student's educational experience and align with academic expectations. You will access your child's classroom instruction through Google Classroom and receive instructions to your provided email address. Students should engage in assignments and learning opportunities when using their Chromebooks. Grades K-3 Chromebooks will remain on campus unless students require distance learning days.
Chromebook User Agreements must be signed and returned to your child's teacher before Chromebooks will be issued.
Assessment
The Eureka Math program includes daily formative assessments using Exit Tickets, mid-module, and End of Module Assessments. Eureka Math in Sync provides support learning for hybrid models including, fillable pdf assignments, teacher videos, and assessments.
The reading assessment used is mClass Dibels. These are individual assessments administered by the teacher in independent Google Meet sessions or in person. Students with limited technology access or those requesting written work will receive learning packets to complete at home.
Student Progress
Your teacher will post student grades in JPAMS. The instructions and password will be sent to your home address the first week of school to access student progress.
Parents of students in distance learning may see their child's progress on JPAMS. Access to student progress is available. After sending an email invitation, Parents must accept the invitation and choose the frequency of the updates. Parents of Distance Learners can activities completed in Google.
